Taxes are a State of Mind

|

SOMETIMES A STORY IS JUST A HALLWAY away. In the stylishly atrium-ed office building we share with hundreds of other Dallas workers, we came upon-the Michigan Department of the Treasury? Intrigued, we were referred for comment to Dave Delaney, co-chairman of DATA (Dallas Area Tax Association).

According to Delaney, Michigan is just one of many states with treasury offices in Dallas, including Louisiana, Minnesota, and Florida. Their primary mission: interpreting corporate income tax and sales regulations for Texas-based corporations doing business in other states.

Delaney, an ex-snowbird himself, works for the state of Minnesota as an auditor, and happily confesses to preferring our Texas winters to those of the frozen northland.

So now we know. Glad we decided to take a Michigander. (Hope there’s no tax on bad puns).
