THUMBS UP to Rena Pederson, editorial page editor of The Monopoly Newspaper, for using our Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down idea to give readers of the News unvarnished, straightforward opinions of current issues, in direct contrast to the mealy-mouthed, on-the-one-hand/on-the-other-hand main editorials for which the News editorial page had become notorious. We applaud the message if not the means. With a little creativity and imagination (surely in no short supply in a news organization with a gazillion employees), you might even come up with your very own idea of how to communicate it.
