YOU AND YOUR SMILE-COSMETIC DENTAL ALTERNATIVES; RICHARD ZWEIG. DDS

Today there are several alternatives to traditional crowns, fillings, orthodontics and even surgery.

The newest cosmetic procedure is Bonded Porcelain Laminate Veneers. These are durable and resist stains very well. It usually takes only two visits to create a whole new smile! They can be used to mask darkly stained teeth, fix chips or fractures, close spaces, lengthen teeth that are worn, and even “straighten” teeth.

Bonding can be used in the same manner as Porcelain Laminate Veneer Bonding. The advantages of bonding are that a new smile can be created in one visit and it is also less expensive.

Bleaching is used to whiten teeth that are too dark or yellow and is usually accomplished in three to ten visits.

With the availability of financing options, why put off your beautiful smile? Call today for a personal consultation. (214) 361-6302. You deserve the best!

OUTPATIENT TREATMENT

Charter Hospital of Dallas, a psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital located at 6800 Preston Road in Piano has expanded their services by opening an outpatient chemical dependency program. Charter Recovery Center, which opened in January, is located in Addison and managed by Ginger Barnett under the direction of Dr. Michael Healy. Dr. Healy is the Medical Director of Chemical Dependency Services for Charter Hospital of Dallas.

The Charter Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program is designed to provide an alternative model of treatment for many people who may or may not need hospitalization for detoxification and other medical and psychological monitoring. “For some, the protected environment of a hospital is exactly what is required in order for them to release a way of life revolving around drug and alcohol use For those who are in early stages of dependency, with their family and job still intact, and who are highly motivated to be alcohol and drug free, outpatient treatment can be an ideal setting. They may continue their daily routine of work and home responsibilities and still receive daily treatment for the problem,” said Barnett.

For more information on Charter Recovery Center, call (214) 701-9199.

DR. JAMES H. FOWLER

Corrective nasal surgery is one of the most common types of cosmetic surgery requested. “Your nose is like a signpost for everyone to see, since it is the most prominent feature of your face.” Rhinoplasty is generally recommended for a patient at least 16 years of age. Changes in nasal contour are made completely from inside the nose, leaving no external scars.

Dr. Fowler’s office has a sophisticated “electronic imaging computer.” A video “before” picture of a prospective patient is electronically altered to produce an approximate “after” picture of how the patient might look following surgery, We discuss surgery at great lengths with our patients to make sure they have no unreasonable expectations.

Rhinoplasty is done on an outpatient basis in an outpatient surgery center or in the hospital. An overnight stay is not usually necessary. Length of the surgery is approximately one to one-and-a-half hours. Recovery time is about one week.

AFFORDABLE, NON-SURGICAL TREATMENT FOR VARICOSE VEINS

Women and men can rid their legs and skin of two of the most common problems affecting almost 50 percent of the population – spider veins and varicose veins. This simple medical treatment does not require surgery and can be performed on an outpatient basis by our doctors quickly, safely and economically.

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure in which a chemical solution is injected into the vein blemishes. The medication makes the blood vessels shrink and the discoloration disappear.

The procedure-always administered by a physician- can usually be accomplished within an hour. The discomfort is temporary and limited to the injection area. The patient may resume his or her daily routine immediately without experiencing any other side effects.

For a FREE CONSULTATION, call the Leg Clinic today at 239-7400. The Leg Clinic is located at Park Central III, 12700 Park Central, Suite 1513. Dallas.

FALL-BEST TIME FOR COSMETIC DER-MATOLOGIC SURGERY

David S. Alkek, M.D., a board certified dermatologist who specializes in cosmetic dermatology surgery, explains that FALL is the best time for surgery involving the skin. He explains that after a person has a dermabrasion for facial scars or a chemical peel he should avoid sun exposure for about 3 months. The “new” skin is very susceptible to sunburn and tans irregularly

After a hair transplantation the new grafts are also sensitive to the sun. Any surgery that requires stitches, like scar revisions, removal of tatoos or growths, means keeping the area clean and dry for a few days.

Have your summertime fun and plan ahead for your cosmetic surgery. There is usually a backlog of 1 to 3 months and Fail and Winter are short in Dallas.

At an assessment, two things might happen. Talking with someone outside the family might help you to see the problem in a different way. Or, it might give you a solution you had not even thought of before.

What if you have trouble getting a person to come in for an assessment?

Sometimes hospitals have free “intervention” programs to help someone who is resisting help to overcome their concerns.

People worry about the cost of an assessment. That worry can be easily taken care of-choose a hospital that doesn’t charge for assessments.
