You’re Out Of Order! (We Think)

|

Getting around to various DART, DISD, and council meetings lately, we’ve noticed that our local elected and ap-pointed officials are getting tied in knots by the rules of order. Can you blame them? For example, if a substitute motion is on the floor, it must be discussed and voted upon separately and before the original motion, unless the substitute motion was amended, in which case it also must be discussed and voted upon unless the substitute motion amendment is agreeable to both the amendment motion-er and-oh, never mind. Any local official who needs some help with this, as we do, can write us at 3988 N. Central Expwy., Suite 1200, Dallas 75204, and we’ll send a free copy of Robert’s Rules of Order.
