Thumbs Up to sports fans for supporting the Dallas Mavericks through a frustrating 82-game season. The rule of thumb has been that Dallas fans just don’t support any team short of championship caliber. Period. Well, the Mavericks, an expansion team in the National Basketball Association, were way short of that mark. They won only 15 games, which was the worst record among the league’s 23 teams. Dallas, however, ranked 18th in attendance, ahead of such teams as New Jersey, Detroit, and San Diego, with an average of 7789 fans per game.
