Green Grocer’s monthly Chef’s Choice Charity program allows one chef to create one sandwich item and one smoothie, the proceeds from which benefit a charity of the chef’s choice.
This month, chef Patrick Stark of Sundown at the Granada has created a Texas Cordon Bleu Panini with Windy Meadows chicken breast, smoked ham, Jack cheese, stone ground mustard, and mixed greens on sourdough. His smoothie is called Stark-Raving-Rad, and contains strawberries, raw cacao, almond butter, banana, and a Mohawk goji berry topper.
Stark’s non-profit organization, Mohawk Militia, seeks to both educate consumers by creating awareness about the dangers of GMOs and also change U.S. policies to require labeling of all GMOs in food products.
From 5 PM to 7 PM tonight, September 2, Green Grocer will feature samples of the new items, plus bites from other Green Grocer partners including Cita’s Salsa, Chia Vida, Community Beer Company, On Pure Ground Dairy, Holy Kombucha, and Chef Milton’s Spices. The smoothie and panini will both be available through September 30, and proceeds from each will be donated to Mohawk Militia.
