Brace yourself, design loving friends… I’m about to impart some serious knowledge. It’s a little old thing (app, it’s an app) I just discovered called House Account and you’re going to dig it.

Disclaimer: If you already knew about House Account, just consider me late to the party and feel free to ignore the following rants of an independent boutique enthusiast.

Why will you dig it? If you’re here on this blog, you’re probably a fan of local shops like Blue Print, Cabana, and BelAir. What do these stores have in common? You can’t shop them online. This is where House Account lends a hand. The shopping app focuses on boutiques instead of brands and incorporates in-app messaging to allow those stores to continue providing a more personal shopping experience.House Account

When a user “follows” a boutique on House Account, they’ll see a stream photos uploaded by the shop. If they click a photo, they’ll be able to view more details about the item available as well as “like,” “comment,” or “chat” with a sales associate to buy or learn more. I recently used the app to ask about a dress at Canary and heard back from a sales associate within the hour.

While the app is huge for local fans who may not have time to pop into their favorite boutiques, the real value of House Account is that it’s exposing non-Dallasites to our favorite local stores. Shoppers all over the nation can now enjoy Forty Five Ten’s amazing selection or Bel Air’s vintage finds.

Download House Account here, but be forewarned… it’s very addicting.
