5 Places to Shop Vintage Furniture

Good taste is forever.

My mom and I used to have a Saturday morning tradition—we’d wake up at the crack of dawn and comb through local estate sales, hoping to find fantastic vintage furniture that needed a little TLC. Next up, we’d spend a month sanding it down, painting it, and upholstering it to perfectly fit our vision. It wasn’t until I started working at D Home that I realized that there are stores in Dallas that will do all this for you (thank goodness!).

We’ve complied a list of our favorite spots to find vintage furniture—many of which have an in-house design crew that will help you transform it to perfectly fit your vision! Let the shopping begin.

New is not always better—and these vintage shops are proving it.

  1. Scout Design Studio. Winner of this year’s BOBD Best Vintage or Antique Furniture award, you’ll understand why we love Scout the moment you walk inside. The front of the shop features styled vignettes, but the back warehouse is where you can discover pieces just waiting to be remodeled to fit your vision.
  2. The Salvation Army. A legendary place to find great deals, the Salvation Army’s Harry Hines locale is a great place to find fixer-uppers and stand alone pieces alike.
  3. Lula B’s. There isn’t a lot of method behind the madness that is Lula B’s, but our trips usually result in us finding a fabulous piece of vintage furniture/clothing/art/jewelry that we can’t live without.
  4. Again & Again. Leslie Pritchard has turned her Design District studio into a treasure hunter’s paradise. Stop by for unique pieces that can be designed to perfectly fit your dream.
  5. Give & Take. Whether you’re buying or selling upscale vintage furniture, Give & Take is a good spot to stop by. They also have an in-house design studio, where they can help you breathe new life into your not-so-glamorous vintage finds.
