Dr. Amy Young will assume the role of Executive Director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in September, becoming the first female director in the organization’s history. Founded in 1927 in Dallas, the board certifies over 37,000 obstetricians and gynecologists in the U.S. Prior to her role with ABOG, Dr. Young has served as the vice dean of professional practice and the inaugural Chair of Women’s Health for Dell Medical School at UT Austin, as well as the chief clinical officer for UT Health Austin. She is extensively published and has held appointments as the president of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the president of the Society of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the chair of District XI of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

The National Spine & Ortho Ambulatory Surgery Center is now serving patients full-time with same-day surgical care, enabled by advanced technology, state-of-the art equipment, and an ultramodern facility. With the increasing volume of surgical procedures performed at ambulatory surgical centers in recent years, physicians at NSO Dallas are prepared to meet a wide variety of circumstances including spine surgery, neurosurgery, interventional pain management, orthopedics, joint replacement, and podiatry services.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval as well as the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Mark in recognition of their advanced, full-spectrum stroke care services. Texas Health Fort Worth became the first hospital in DFW to achieve the seal of approval in 2019 and has become the busiest stroke facility in North Texas. The hospital is one of fewer than forty-five comprehensive stroke facilities in Texas, which meet compliance regulations of The Joint Commission and have 24/7 availability for specialized treatments.

Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz introduced a bill this June to rename Plano’s Veterans Affairs clinic after the late Congressman and veteran Sam Johnson. Johnson served in the Air Force for 29 years prior to joining Congress, enduring seven years as a Prisoner of War during his service. Johnson accumulated over five decades of service to the American people, complete with two purple heart decorations. Johnson retired from Congress in 2019 after twenty-eight years and passed away in 2020 at the age of 89 in Plano, Texas. The proposed bill would honor Senator Johnson and commemorate his service to all Texas residents and U.S. citizens he served in his lifetime.
