A $128 million labor and delivery center is on the way to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton. The 160,000 square-foot building will serve as an expansion for the growing Denton County area. The new construction is announced on the heels of Children’s Health and Cook Children’s announcement of new hospitals in the area and the hospital’s own Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that opened in February.
The hospital expansion will include 12 labor and delivery rooms, 30 postpartum and antepartum beds, and two dedicated surgical suites for C-sections. It will also have a breast center and areas for physical therapy, cardiac rehab, the sleep center, and support services. Construction, which is expected to be complete in 2022, will also include 10 emergency department beds.
“The design of this space and the experience we want to provide to the community will have direct input from our consumers and our dedicated care team so that the experience our patients feel when they are going through their care journey exceeds their expectations,” said Kathi Cox, senior vice president, Integrated Experience, at Texas Health via release.
Population growth in the area means the hospital expects deliveries to increase by 40 percent over the next 10 years.
“As the sole provider of OB and NICU services in Denton, we are especially excited to build a new facility for our patients,” said Jeff Reecer, president of Texas Health Denton via release.
