Virginia-based Privia Health, a national, physician-led management group for independent physicians, says it has increased its Privia Medical Group-North Texas provider base to 295 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
That’s up from 200 providers in 2016, when the medical group began recruiting providers in Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, and Collin counties.
The latest large practice to join Privia is Dr. Ronald Blair of Forest Lane Pediatrics, a 13-provider pediatric practice in Dallas and Plano. Privia launched in North Texas last year with the well-regarded practice of Larry Tatum and his Fort Worth-based Texas Health Group.
The population health services company/medical group says it “elevates independent physicians, and preserves their ability to practice high-value care models.”
Privia requires buy-in from the partnering physician practice with its tax ID code, and asks partnering physicians to use Privia’s electronic health record system.
The company also is planning to launch new products.
Around the end of 2018’s first quarter, for example, Privia says it plans to roll out a new custom telehealth platform in North Texas.
Called Privia Virtual Visits, the platform—which is currently being beta-tested in Virginia—will provide patients with access to their own providers rather than connect them with “random doctors,” as other telehealth programs do, Privia says.
