Last night ABC Channel 8 did something amazing. They took the first 12 minutes of their 10 o’clock newscast — half the show — to air a special report by David Schechter on the December 26 Garland tornado that killed nine people on an overpass that spans I-30. It was titled “Night on the Bridge.” Schechter’s reporting is deep. His delivery is understated. The sound and video editing are gripping. This is the sort of in-depth, compelling, well-produced report that you never see on local news. Channel 8 is to be congratulated. Find 10 minutes to watch it.
