Is There a Bubble Hockey Table in Dallas?

Yes, that’s what it’s called. Bubble hockey. It’s also apparently called “rod hockey” and “table hockey.” All funny sounding, but that’s not the point. You know the type of game I mean. Not air hockey. The International Bubble Hockey Federation site says there is only one table in Texas, at Woody’s Tavern in Fort Worth. But is that really the only real (as in, not the play-at-home kind you can buy at Target) table in the entire state? Is there not some bar or arcade in Dallas that wants to lure nostalgic grown men who enjoyed the game as children?

The story of why I’m looking is long and boring. Let’s just say that I now know that Dave and Busters does not have one, even though the woman who answered the phone there said they did–even after I specified that no, I did not mean an air hockey table. Please, someone, tell me this game has not gone extinct here.

Park Cities Baptist Church has one in the game area right next to the gym.

I took this search to twitter about a year ago and couldn’t find one here locally. The time I saw one was about 10 years ago in Carrollton.

Vague recollection that the Polar Ice rink in Grapevine had one in their arcade, but it’s been a few years since I’ve been there.

There used to be one at the Stars Center in Valley Ranch, but I haven’t been there since it changed to whatever it is now.

There was one at Nickelrama at Beltline and Garland Road I think the last time I went (< a year ago). There is also a long row of pinball machines, skeeball, basketball, and an air hockey in case you really want to have a good time.

We used to play on one at Ben’s Halfyard House on Greenville ten years ago. Of course, it’s long gone now. A friend rented one of the only bubble hockey rental units in the state for his bachelor party… we even made a very stupid bubble hockey mocumentary with it! Good times.

Okay, you are hereby compelled by federal law to send us your bubble hockey mocumentary. Because I don’t care how stupid it is. That sounds amazing.

You know I will… as embarrassing as it is! I might slip a copy to Christine next time I see her, though she may never hire me for a shoot again!
