WNYC built a cool interactive feature that allows you to check out the average commute time based on your zip code. It then color-codes it and throws it on a map, so you can easily brag to your crosstown friends how quickly you get home. The average commute nationwide is 25.4 minutes, which, according to the above screenshot, is higher than nearly all the Mid-Cities, a lot of Dallas, and much of Fort Worth. That weird purple blob in the industrial strip between Dallas and Irving? That’s an industrial strip between Dallas and Irving, so there aren’t that many residents. Skews the numbers.

Play around and report back.
