Results of the tournament are starting to come quickly now. First up, D Magazine‘s Tim Rogers escaped with a 358 to 333 win over attorney Tina Tuccelli. His report:

Tina made me soil my knickers when she played “raphia” early in our game. I think my experience ultimately won it for me, as I got a couple easy scores with the trick words “qis” and “za.” Tina expressed surprise at seeing these, which tells me she’s going to be a tougher opponent next time she plays. Pretty sure if I had to play her again right now, I’d lose.

In other news, even playing a bingo (using all seven letters) with the word “cursive” wasn’t enough to give the win to homemaker Heather Smith. She fell –by one point– to Lauren Lapeyre, who does PR for the Ritz Carlton. Final score was 278 to 277.

And Rich Goff, who works at WFAA, took out Lindsay Wilcox of NBC5 News by a score of 357 to 343.
