Rhonda Reinhart Holds Scrabble Champ Chris Cree Under 550 Points in D Magazine Words With Friends Tournament

Noted Scrabble player Chris Cree met his match when he faced D Home‘s Rhonda Reinhart in the second round of our tournament. Unfortunately for her, he also beat his match. Cree came out on top, 511 to 401. But it sounds like it was a crackerjack game, played over about five hours. His account of the action:

Rhonda is a very good player. We each played a bingo in the first two moves (RELATES, OVERTIRE). After the opening bingo, I had a 6 vowel rack for a PBD (post-bingo draw), then U’s on three consecutive turns to get through. The turning point was JUPE for 58, followed by DEHNOZ? – I just hoped the spot stayed open – it did – DOZENtH for 108!. That put me up 100 or so and, after that, we just went back and forth at each other with mostly 30-40+ point plays.
