DallasCEO and SMU Cox School of Business put together a whizzbang event last night that, yes, had a PowerPoint presentation, but was still very interesting. The occasion for the occasion was to reveal the results of the first-ever SMU Cox CEO Sentiment Survey, as seen in the September issue in DallasCEO. (An online sneak peek can be found here.) With loads of help from SMU’s Mickey Quiñones, Dr. Bob Raspberry, and David Perryman, we surveyed local CEOs and presidents about the Dallas-Fort Worth economy in general, their companies’ forecasts in general, and leadership issues in particular. In the spirit of DallasCEO feature stories, I offer this takeaway: 1. Dallas leaders are very bullish on the Dallas economy — much more bullish than on the U.S. economy. 2. People in the corner office are, by and large, secure in their jobs and satisfied, too. 3. The order of confidants of CEOs goes as follows: Spouse, Friend, the CFO. That’s the takeaway, but really, there’s much more. Read the whole thing.
