WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS

|

The previously parenthetically mentioned Unofficial D Trivia Team pulled out our first victory last night, winning a $40 bar tab redeemable at our generous host, The Tipperary Inn. And boy does it feel good. Since we didn’t get to make an acceptance speech last night (instead, there was much high-pitched squealing, jumping, and phone calls to team members who couldn’t be there for the big win), I’d like to take the opportunity here to thank Gary, our ever-hospitable and always-knowledgeable trivia emcee; Joe, the team MVP; and of course all the little people who helped us get here today.

How did we pull out the victory? I’m so glad you asked. We were in 3rd place (out of 12) halfway through regulation play, slipped back to 4th during the second half, and executed a strategic pass on the last 16-pointer to hold our place while the teams ahead of us answered incorrectly, plunging them into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. Try your hand at the final question, if you dare:

Put these animals in order from that with the longest average gestational period to that with the shortest–chimpanzee, humpback whale, giraffe, polar bear. The answer (no cheating!) after the jump.

Giraffe, humpback whale, chimp, polar bear.
