Many of the citizens who have fled their ravaged homes left pets behind. Teams from the Humane Society have rushed to the devastated areas and are rescuing pets and finding shelters for them. Many of the animals have come from the Superdome area, but they’ve also collected dogs from families who had to leave pets on the side of the highway when they boarded buses headed to Dallas and Houston.
