On Wednesday, the Texas Theatre will offer a single screening of the beer documentary Brewmaster, a film by writer and director Douglas Tirola, which premiered at SXSW and was widely released earlier this year.
A duo of characters, one a New York lawyer with dreams of opening a brewery, the other on a quest for the Master Cicerone distinction (the equivalent of a Master Sommelier for wine), dive into aspects of the craft beer boom in America and its culture.
Those who quit their jobs, those who study the gnarliest sides of brewing chemistry are highlighted, while experts in the American scene figure as talking heads.
The CEO of Lakewood Brewing Co. will be in attendance for a discussion following the show.
If you are a brewer, you want to go—for the sense of catharsis if nothing else. Or everyone else, for a behind the scenes with craft beer if you haven’t seen it brewed.
You can find tickets here. (The single screening is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.)
