The January 1998 issue of D Magazine highlights the best and worst of the city, from the tastiest egg roll to the worst smelling restaurant. Some items that fell into “best” categories include the fries at Jack’s Burger House, chicken fried steak at Matt’s Rancho Martinez, and martini at Lombardi Mare. Burger Street’s milkshake and La Madeleine’s Caesar salad weren’t as fortunate, though.
