We are starting a running list of things to do for the 4th of July weekend, and here are a few to get started. Where will you be celebrating? Help us add to the list.

Friday Night LobsterFestSevy’s Grill is flying in 24 fresh Maine lobsters for dinner service on July 4th. For $39.95, enjoy a 4-course dinner with lobster cocktail, lobster tail entree, and a Godiva chocolate creme brulee dessert. If you can’t be at the beach this week, at least you can have great seafood before the fireworks. Call 214-265-7389 for reservations.

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic – Billy Bob’s Texas is the home of Willie’s annual music festival. The lineup this year includes Dierks Bentley and the Josh Abbott Band. General Admission tickets are still available for this almost-40-year-old event, located in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Gates open at 11 and there will be food trucks galore to feed your cravings.

Independence Day Smokeout at the Grail – If you’re in the Plano area, check out Holy Grail Pub anytime over the three-day weekend for a Beer + Barbecue event. They will be serving up baby back ribs,  beer can chicken and brisket, and on tap will be Dogfish Head red and White, Odell Footprint and Saint Arnold 20th Anniversary.

Backyard 4th PartyVictor Tangos is having a party on the 4th, with homemade smoked sausages, watermelon salad, potato salad, and gumbo. Expect tons of decorations and $3 special cocktails after the fireworks are over. For before the big show: carafes of sangria are $12 all night.

The adult winer gets a trophy and a $100 gift certificate, second place gets a $25 gift certificate, and the third place winner gets $25 in quarters. So don’t place third. And be careful who you tie with, because the tiebreaker is a tequila shoot out. There is also a kids’ contest with a trophy for the winner.

Independence Day / Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Celebration Movie Showings – Historic Texas Theater is showing two different films on the 4th, 5th and 6th: one is Independence Day, and who doesn’t love Randy Quaid? The other is the 1979 recording of Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Celebration. At its July 3rd, 8 pm screening, Bolsa Mercado is doing a food pairing. Sausage rolls, mac and cheese, and cookies will be served, which is included in the $25 ticket price. Go to the July 5th, 5 pm screening if you prefer barbeque with your country music.
