photo (63)Steven Spielberg snuck into Dallas for the Dallas International Film Festival and grabbed a plate of Fried Rice La China at Mesero Miguel. He demolished the entire plate of fried rice mixed with cilantro shrimp, crispy pork, mushrooms, and topped with a fried egg. News from the fabulous film festival which continues until April 14  has been buried under basketball fodder. Check out DIFF 2014 events on FrontRow.  And try that dang rice. It gives Shinsei’s version a run for its money.

Update: Kristin Stark, a nice lady from DreamWorks Studios in Universal City, just sent me an email.

We saw your post today about Steven Spielberg being in Dallas for the film festival and that he dined at Mesero Miguel. Unfortunately, that’s not the case and sounds like there’s a case of mistaken identity!  Would like to get a correction to your story please.

If Spielberg ever decides to produce his own biography, he might want to get the name of the guy who impersonated him at Mesero Miguel. The manager, Javier Estrada, had a nice conversation with the man who introduced himself as Spielberg and said he was in town for DIFF 14. Stark, who works in the publicity department, is from Dallas. I’ve promised her dinner at Mesero Miguel when she comes home. I’ve asked the restaurant to look up the dinner bill to see  if it was comped.
