What to Drink Now: World Series Libations

|

In the mood to honor of our Texas Rangers second consecutive visit to The World Series with a celebratory toast?  Try one of these tasty drinks during game one tonight.  Cheers!!!

For the man who is being called the “coolest person at The World Series,” mix up a Coole Swan cocktail for pitcher C.J. Wilson.
Lemon Chiller
2 parts Coole Swan Dairy Cream Liqueur
1 part Limoncello
Combine all ingredients in an ice filled shaker and shake until very cold.  Strain into an ice filled martini glass.

For outfielder David Murphy and his Houston roots try a St. Arnold Octoberfest. Made in Houston at the oldest brewery in Texas, St. Arnold Octoberfest is meant to celebrate all that we love about fall including the fall harvest, cooler nights, the start of the holiday season and in this case…baseball.

For 1st baseman Michael Young and his University of California, Santa Barbara alma mater open a bottle of Foley, Firestone, Qupe or Melville during tonight’s game.  The Foley Two Sisters Chardonnay, filled with apple, pear, peaches and cream and the earthy Melville Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir filled with black cherry, blackberry and cola are two great options.

Van Ghost Punch

In honor of Halloween, catcher Mike Napoli’s birthday try mixing up a cocktail punch for a group, or an individual cocktail for yourself.  The Van Goghst Punch is perfect for entertaining a crowd, or an Afterlife cocktail is great for sipping on your own.

Van Goghst Punch (serves 12) *Created by The Cocktail Guru Jonathan Pogash
1 bottle Van Gogh Rich Dark Chocolate Vodka
12 oz orange juice
12 oz pomegranate juice
12 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda
Pour ingredients into large punch bowl or pitcher filled with ice and stir to chill and dilute.  Ladle or pour out into small punch glasses.
Garnish with several sliced orange wheels.

The Afterlife, Created by Jorge Guzman of Ofrenda, New York
1.5 oz Espolón Tequila Reposado
.5 oz Frangelico
.5 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Chile Piquin-Cinnamon Syrup
2 dashes of Wormwood Bitters
Shake ingredients together and strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with lemon twist.

For right fielder Nelson Cruz,  3rd baseman Adrian Beltre and relief pitcher Neftali Feliz pour a shot of Brugal 1888 over ice in honor of their Dominican Republic roots.  From one of the oldest rum houses in the Caribbean, Brugal 1888 undergoes a double aging process, first in medium toasted American oak casks, then in Sherry casks hand selected under the guidance of George Espie, The Macallan Scotch Whisky’s Master of Wood.  Smooth and distinct with rich chocolate, espresso, toasted almond and spice, perfect for sipping on its own or over ice.
