SideDish Supper Club: Early Review

Thanks to all of you who braved what might have been the first five-course sous vide wine dinner ever served. Our host, Chef Chris Ward, and the staff of the Mercury did a wonderful job. I have a fistful of meetings this morning so I don’t have time to go into too many details, but I wanted to get in a brief overview. Besides the crew at the Mercury, the real stars of the show last night, were the diners: the room was packed with sophisticated palates and enthusiasts who care not only care about quality but love to share experiences and discuss the fine points of food and wine.

It was great to meet a lot of you Dishers by your real names. I won’t call you out here, but thanks for “coming out” of the cyber closet. Chef Hung from Kenichi was there. I understand James Neel from Tramontana was around but I didn’t speak with him. There was a group of foodies from Dallasfood.org. I chatted briefly with former weatherman and ever galloping gourmet, Troy Dungan and his wife Janet. Long-time Dallas restaurateur and wine buff Whit Meyers talked grapes with On the Wine Trail in Italy stud muffin Alfonso Cevola. All in all, an evening filled with great dining conversations at every table. Anywhoo, thanks to all attendees. Please post your thoughts and reviews below. If you have pictures, e-mail them to me and we’ll put together a slide show. Tra. La. My pumpkin awaits.
