Brandon J. Call, who was D CEO’s managing editor from 2018 to 2020, has returned to the publication in a new role: executive editor. He joins from Neiman Marcus, where he wrote about luxury retail as a copy manager on the company’s creative team.

While serving as D CEO’s managing editor, Call was instrumental in diversifying the publication’s content with profiles of under-the-radar executives and features such as “The Business of Pride.”

“Brandon is an exceptional writer and editor who has deep knowledge of North Texas companies and leaders,” said Christine Perez, the publication’s editor. “He has a nose for news and a knack for peeling back the layers to get to the heart of a story.”

As executive editor, he’ll focus on story development and editing and oversee D CEO’s commercial real estate platform, which includes a daily news site, weekly newsletter, print edition features, industry columns, and the magazine’s Real Estate Annual.

It’s a key role in D CEO’s multipronged approach to covering the industry, with Managing Editor Will Maddox covering healthcare real estate, Associate Editor Kelsey J. Vanderschoot handling retail, restaurants, and hospitality; and Assistant Editor Ben Swanger writing about DFW’s white-hot industrial sector.

“I’m excited to lead commercial real estate coverage in a thriving market like Dallas-Fort Worth,” Call said. “From legacy companies that helped define the industry to innovators driving its evolution, the players here are the best in the business.”

Prior to initially joining D CEO, Call was data editor for the Dallas Business Journal. Before that, he was research director at Albuquerque Business First and held editorial posts at Albuquerque, The Magazine and New Mexico Magazine.

Call is a graduate of The University of New Mexico, where he earned a degree in communications and journalism. His work has been honored by the Association of Area Business Publishers, International Regional Magazine Association, and Society of Professional Journalists.
