I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (January 9-February 16 at Theatre Too) Tickets. This musical revue of the suburban dating game, revived yearly by Theatre Three with great success, explores the ups and downs of romance, marriage, and, of course, in-laws. It’s a perfect companion to the pressures of Valentine’s Day.
Neil Hamburger with Alvarius B (January 9, 7:30 p.m. at Sons of Hermann Hall) Tickets. The audience-baiting, Taco Bell-hating, music-playing comedian Neil Hamburger (real name: Gregg Turkington) has trawled the underground circuit delivering his disheveled schtick and sharp celebrity critiques since the 1990s. He is, undoubtable and unabashedly, hardworking. He averages more than 350 shows a year, which is crazy, and embraces the moniker “America’s Funnyman.” He’ll do a stand up set accompanied by solo guitarist Alvarious B.
Avenue Q (January 9-February 15 at Stage West) Tickets. If you haven’t seen Avenue Q, the smash hit musical that features a few foul-mouthed puppets, you have no excuses after Stage West becomes the second regional theater to revive the production, after Theatre Three’s successful two engagements and a popular Broadway tour.
Colin Quinn’s Unconstitutional (January 10, 8 p.m. at Winspear Opera House) Tickets. A few years ago, former Saturday Night Live personality Colin Quinn found success on Broadway dissecting, in less than 90 minutes, the history of the entire world. By comparison, reducing the United States Constitution from birth to Barack Obama to a barbed 70 minutes seems downright doable. Quinn riffs on everyone from the original delegates to the Kardashians, and no individual freedom is safe.
Bad Boys of Broadway ( Casa Manana January 10-January 12 at Casa Manana) Tickets. Four Broadway stars (Jason Wooten, John Cudia, Josh Tower and UNT graduate Carmen Cusack ) hit Fort Worth with a set stacked with Broadway classics.
