The Best Kids Movie Fest is This Weekend — And This Year It’s Free

To celebrate the anniversary of the oldest and largest children's movie festival in the country, all of this year's programs, including a screening of the Oscar-nominated film Ernest and Celestine, are completely free.

The USA Film Festival‘s annual Kid Film movie fest may be the best thing the movie organization puts on all year. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the festival, which not only brings new and classic children’s films to big screen, but also features notable authors, animators, illustrators, and other personalities from the world of juvenile lit and film.

And here’s the real highlight for this year’s fest: to celebrate the anniversary of the oldest and largest children’s movie festival in the country, all of this year’s programs are completely free.

Some of the highlights of this year’s festival include:

– A Tribute to children’s book authors/illustrators Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley, who will attend screenings of several of the film adaptations of their books, including Chicken Little, The Ant and the Grasshopper and The Red Hen. 

– A screening of of the French animated film Ernest & Celestine, which was recently nominated for an Academy Award

– A special presentation of The Muppet Movie to celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary.
