This weekend Dallas Buyers Club will hit local theaters. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof, a Dallas man who, after being diagnosed with AIDS in 1986, began running a smuggling ring to bring AIDS treatment medicines from Mexico into the United States. We’ll have a review of the film later in the week, but first, some background. The story the movie is based on was first told in a 1992 article written by Bill Minutaglio in the Dallas Morning News‘ Dallas Life Magazine.
