The show, hosted by Oprah Winfrey’s favorite designer, is a regular favorite of Nicole’s. She was tapped by the Dallas charity Dwell with Dignity to help makeover the apartment of a mother and two young children who were relocating from a homeless shelter. When the call came Nicole was able to whip up a support team and turned out 8 pieces of furniture in less than a week to meet the Producer’s deadline.
In October 2010, Nicole’s revamped dining room chair won 2nd place in a Dwell with Dignity contest judged by a panel of well-known designers and design bloggers including Jonathan Adler and Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge.
“Refinishing a piece of furniture not only changes the piece but it can change the feel of an entire room,” says Nicole. “It allows you to reuse good furniture while creating something new and appealing at the same time. Being able to use this approach to make this family’s space feel like a home was truly gratifying.”
