We Got Blanked at the James Beard Awards. We had six finalists for national and regional awards in the “Oscars of food” competition, but nary a one prevailed last night.

83-Year-Old Man Commits Murder Over Jealousy. Elliott Wilson killed 78-year-old Sharon Radebaugh, of Rowlett, because she was in a new relationship that didn’t include him. I don’t want to sound ageist, so I won’t comment.

Mesquite 7-Eleven Brawl. It apparently started when underage customers weren’t allowed to buy cigars. There’s video.

Keller ISD Superintendent to Retire. Rick Westfall is ducking after six years on the job, though he’s going to stick around till December to help with the leadership transition.

Rangers Win With Walk-Off Homer. Nathaniel Lowe did the honors, leading the club to tweet the video with the comment: “Lowe and behold.”
