CADILLAC SALUTES DANA CRAWFORD FOR HER CREATIVITY AND VITAL SUPPORT IN BRINGING GIANT HOME FOR THE 1996 CATTLE BARON’S BALL.

|

An 18-year veteran of the Cattle Baron s cause, this devoted wife, mother and former advertising executive donates her time and talent to help fund research for a disease that touches all of us.

It was Dana Crawford’s family connections at the American Film Institute which allowed Ball Chairman Vicki Chapman to begin persuading the powers-that-be to move the world premiere re-release of Giant to Dallas from its original planned location in Los Angeles or New York. During a brainstorming session last Fall, it became clear to Vicki and Dana that the 40th anniversary of this epic tale of oil wells and millionaires would be the perfect theme for the 1996 Ball. No other film encompasses the Texas mystique like this classic.

Cattle Baron’s donors will attend an exclusive showing of the refurbished movie in an authentic 1950s theater setting complete with usherettes dispensing candy and popcorn. The showing as well as the Ball will be attended by Giant stars, including Mercedes McCambridge (who played “Luz”) and Earl Holliman (who played “Bob Dace”).

“The greatest challenge facing charities,” says Dana, “is the need to stand out among the hundreds of other organizations.” It’s Dana’s goal to establish Cattle Baron’s as a sincere, reputable and productive force in raising money and awareness for cancer research. “Being a part of this great city of Dallas,” Dana adds, “is our biggest asset and our biggest opportunity.”
