As Dallas County reports more than 1,000 new COVID cases for the 13th day in a row, another big local event gets canceled.

Dallas County reported 1,055 new COVID cases and eight deaths. They contributed to the state’s deadliest week so far, according to a tweet from Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. He urged Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to implement business-friendly suggestions from the medical community, Fox4 reports.

KERA is maintaining a list of places to receive coronavirus testing in North Texas, including drive-through sites and walk-up sites. Along with providing days and times various locations are open, the report also includes breakdown of different types of tests.

The City of Addison has canceled Oktoberfest for 2020, due to coronavirus concerns. This is the first time in the festival’s history that the event will not be held, Dallas Observer reports.

Tito’s Vodka is giving away about 44,000 bottles of hand sanitizer at Fair Park on July 16. The company will distribute the hand sanitizer from 9 a.m until 2 p.m., or until supplies run out. Find more details here.

Major Eric Johnson reports via Twitter that 70 percent of hospital beds in the city are occupied. Sixty-nine percent of ICU beds are occupied, and 41 percent of ventilators are in use.
