Dismantling the Misconceptions About Clinical Trials

A panel discussion that digs into how trials come to North Texas and the support patients receive.

Clinical Cancer Trials: Removing the Mystery and Opening Eyes to the Potential is an online discussion presented by Mary Crowley Cancer Research and Cancer Support Community North Texas, and moderated by myself. This month is National Cancer Research Month,  and the panel is hopes to dispel the myths that surround clinical trials for cancer patients, shed light on how the process works, and discuss how North Texas is a hub for cutting edge clinical trials as well as a leader in supporting patients.

The panel will include Dr.  James Strauss, who serves as principal investigator for multiple clinical trials at Mary Crowley, and has been practicing and studying hematology and oncology for more than 40 years. Mirchelle Louis, the CEO of Cancer Support Community North Texas, is a tenured mental health professional who has dedicated the past ten years to integrating psycho-social and emotional support into cancer treatment and will also participate. Tina Ngheim works with pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations to create a pipeline of clinical trials at Mary Crowley Cancer Research and Jackie Castillo is licensed clinical social worker at Mary Crowley and has 15 years of experience working with adults in crisis.
