Pediatrician Dr. Karen Duncan will be the JPS Health Network’s Chief Operating Officer. She brings more than 20 years of clinical and executive leadership experience to the role.

Duncan previously served as executive vice president of community health services of JPS, which she assumed in 2017. She will officially take over at the end of the January for Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Whitman when he retires.

“With a background in pediatrics and years of executive roles, she has devoted her professional life to the improvement of public hospitals across the country, and she has done the same for us in her three years here. I have great respect for her, not just because of her extensive background and accomplishments, but because of who she is. She is a trusted partner who pushes each of us to be better every day,” said JPS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Earley via release.

Duncan has worked in leadership at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and Cook County Health and Hospitals System in Chicago. Prior to coming to JPS, she was a Principal at healthcare consulting firm Health Management Associates.

“What an awesome move for JPS and the Fort Worth community. This truly demonstrates JPS’ commitment to lift healthcare to the community to another level,” said immediate past chair of the JPS Board of Managers Rev. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jr. via release.
