The generalized DFW hometown pride Leon Bridges stokes in people is real. Dallas’ revived and beloved downtown hotel The Statler includes Bridges’ single “Coming Home” in their hold music rotation. He sold out his 28th birthday party at the most stylish dance club in North Texas. And on June 9, the Fort Worth artist will kick off a huge tour at Irving Music Factory, North Texas’ newest arena, the connective balance any artist would hope to strike just before their sophomore album is loosed to the world.
Last week the new-school soul/R&B singer teased to his upcoming record Good Thing (out May 4) by dropping two singles at once. Late yesterday, his press outfit sent the schedule for a North American tour that begins June 9 at the Irving Music Factory and wraps up in New York with two dates at Radio City Music Hall.

Bridges played the Majestic in 2015, then Music Hall at Fair Park in 2016. He has two more sold-out shows to play in Australia this month. Then he’s set to open up for Harry Styles on a few Latin American dates. That will get him to June, and that headlining set at Irving Music Factory.
A note about “Bad Bad News,” the better of those new singles: The delicious jazz guitar solo comes courtesy Nate Mercereau, the multi-instrumentalist also behind the orchestration and arrangements for this remix of Sade’s “Flower of The Universe,” from the Wrinkle In Time soundtrack.
