Ice cream is practically a religion in New England. You see dairies everywhere, and they make the stuff differently: a little denser than supermarket brands but not as dense as super-premiums like Häagen-Dazs. New England-style IC comes to Flower Mound in the form of EMACK & BOLIO’S, a Boston chain founded by a music lawyer with rock ’n’ roll connections. (That’s why the walls are plastered with photos of ’70s rock stars such as Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.) Flavors go way beyond chocolate, or even “Cherry Garcia.” Grasshopper Pie, for example, is an adult version of mint chip, with crème de menthe liqueur, Oreos, and fine chocolate flakes. 330 Parker Square, Flower Mound. 972-410-3510.
