Former Dallas City Council Member Don Hill Has Died. The 65-year-old, who was serving an 18-year sentence for bribery, died Saturday after a two-year battle with prostate cancer. Hill’s corruption case became the largest in Dallas history. He was granted “compassionate release” from a federal prison in North Carolina on Friday.
Dallas Firefighters Extinguish Four-Alarm Blaze in South Dallas. Heavy, black smoke from the fire at the American Fresh Produce warehouse spread across the city’s skyline yesterday morning. About 90 firefighters worked for nearly three hours to put out the fire. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, and there were no injuries reported.
Dallas’ Fallen Officers Honored at Candlelight Vigil. The 29th annual vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington on Saturday honored 394 officers who have died in the line of duty, including the five officers who were killed in the July 2016 ambush in downtown Dallas.
Sen. John Cornyn Could Be Considered For FBI Director. Cornyn is among eight candidates who were interviewed for the position. The senator is a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and was also attorney general of the state.
