LISA GRAY is a classically trained opera singer. She’s also a cake decorator at the new Preston-Forest Whole Foods, where she celebrates the arrival of fresh bread from the oven by breaking into song. She sings the Neapolitan aria O Sole Mio, except in English and with slightly different, more bread-appropriate lyrics.

Q: If you get this excited when the bread comes out of the oven, what happens when you put it in your mouth?

A: [laughs] Uhhh, boy. Well. Uh, if it’s the ciabatta with the sea salt in it, then I guess I get double excited and sing a high C.
