Though she was born on a U.S. naval base in Taiwan, Karen Noseff has been in Texas since age 3 (and Dallas since 13). While studying to become a lawyer, fate and a passion for design led her down a different path. Influenced by her Asian-American background, she created Fortune Denim, a line of premium Japanese jeans with a Western flair in such styles as Beijing Belle, Hong Kong Hipster, and Shanghai Star. Each pair is adorned with a Swarovski-studded Chinese coin button and a satin-trim waistband featuring cute personal fortunes such as “Never turn a deaf ear to good gossip” on the inside. The Market, an ever-changing section at LFT, the new, hip haunt at Victory Park, features a carousel that holds 235 pair of jeans sorted by label. Look for hot denim lines such as People’s Revolution, Rich Skinny, Tsubi, and William Rast. Bonus: on-site tailors do immediate alterations. Also opening at LFT is Chip & Pepper, a shop-in-shop featuring the duo’s thrift-shop chic denim collection, including some exclusive designs for the Dallas store. Walk down the street to G-Star, the innovative Dutch denim store, and you’ll spy a variety of styles for both men and women, plus a colorful collection of functional casual wear designed by famed Australian designer Marc Newson.
