71.61 Percent

photography by Dallas Morning News

That’s the average percentage by which the 12 propositions of the recent $1.35 billion bond election passed in District 13, Councilmember Mitch Rasansky’s district. What’s interesting about that is Rasansky sent out an expensive four-color, fold-out mailer to North Dallas voters urging them to take a closer look at the proposals, which he implied were filled with pork. What effect did his anti-bond mailer have? It appears to have moved the needle a little more than 2 percentage points. The percentage citywide by which the 12 propositions passed was 74.25. As Rasansky considers his run for mayor, he might want to think about his lack of power over that needle.
