Hot Property: The Crespi Estate is Back on the Market

We’ve all gotten a good look at The Crespi Estate in the past couple of years. We first took a virtual tour of the 1930s home when it hit the market in the spring of 2015, catching a glimpse of the substantial upgrades Tom Hicks made to the property after purchasing it in 1997. Later that summer, we fretted over whether or not anyone would ever get to enjoy said updates, given the little matter of the $100,000,000 price tag. In 2016, The Crespi Estate rose to consciousness once again when Dallas billionaire Andy Beal went on a multi-million-dollar Dallas mansion shopping spree. The fretting was for naught! We slept easy that night.

So you can imagine our surprise when an image of that well-manicured manse popped up in the “Just Listed” section of Ebby.com this morning. But what’s more unexpected: the price tag. At $48,900,000, the asking price is a whopping $51,100,000 less than when we saw it listed last. What happened here? Of course, theories have already begun circulating, but for the purposes of this “Hot Property” we’re focusing on the facet that fascinates us most.

The slideshow includes a lot of the same images we first glimpsed back in 2015, but there are some interesting differences. Many rooms are missing (most notably the kitchen, which Beal had reportedly begun renovating), but there are several updated photos of the estate’s elaborate grounds (though we hope those Adirondack chairs are around there somewhere!) and a new shot of a sitting room or two.

Regardless of the motivation behind the home’s return to Allie Beth Allman’s lineup, we’ll certainly welcome a reason to revisit the lavish property.
