Tent_CityYou can’t really say that sometime D Magazine contributor Dick Reavis lived in Tent City for six weeks. He did, after all, go home at night, when things generally got too squirrelly for Dick. But he did set up a tent and hang out for more than a month with the people who lived there. His report for the Texas Observer, titled “The Last Days of Tent City,” runs to about 5,500 words. You should find the time to read it. Dick’s piece is starker and grittier and more revealing than anything else I’ve read about the people who once lived under Interstate 45.
