On July 21, The Gypsy Wagon was filled to the brim with stylish gals who adore Anna Bond, the creative powerhouse behind Rifle Paper Co. As we previously reported, The Gypsy Wagon hosted Anna’s first Dallas meet and greet, where she launched her new ‘Texas’ print. The event might have set the world record for most people with Rifle Paper Co. iPhone cases in one place, but we haven’t confirmed with Guinness just yet. D Home caught up with Anna to ask her about her trip to Texas, the newest print, and the future of Rifle.
SL: We love the wildflowers in your new “Texas” print. What drew you to illustrating those? Did you have any other elements (like the wildflowers) that you considered including in a “Texas” print?
AB: The florals were inspired by one of our current popular patterns called ‘Tapestry.’ I also tried to include blue hues to allude to the Texas flower, bluebonnets.
SL: What’s your favorite product (calendar, iPhone cases, notepads, etc.) to see your designs on?
AB: I love seeing our designs on something new. For example, we just got samples in of file folders and it’s so exciting to see the patterns on a brand new format.
SL: Many of your prints focus on specific places. How does Winter Park, FL, the headquarters of Rifle, inspire your design?
AB: I’m always inspired by travel and love to include hints of our surroundings here in Florida. I grew up in New Jersey so palm trees and the tropical vibe here still feels a bit magical to me.
SL: Any fun, new RPC products we should keep an eye out for?
AB: We just launched our debut fabric collection and I am so excited about that and seeing what our customers create with it. We’re also working on more home products for 2017.
SL: Was your Gypsy Wagon appearance your first trip to Texas? What did you enjoy about your visit here? Did you eat or shop anywhere that you really loved?
AB: I’ve been to Texas before but this was my first trip to Dallas and I absolutely loved it! I visited quite a few shops including Forty Five Ten, Grange Hall, and Scott + Cooner. I hope to be back because I got so many food and shop recommendations at the Gypsy Wagon event that I didn’t have time to check out.
