Less than six months ago, STELLADALLAS, the hip new vintage furniture
and home accessories shop on Lovers Lane, existed only in owner Amber Davidson’s mind. At the time, 26-year-old Davidson was the general manager at Stephanie Anne’s, but she dreamed of opening her own store.
And she got the chance when she was given first dibs on the prime location when Stephanie Anne decided to expand.
Her first act of duty: bring in tons of color. “I have always loved color, and my tastes have not changed. I am still all about bright, shiny, and glossy, just in a more refined way,” she says. The name for the store was also a snap: Amber’s great-grandmother loved to listen to Stella Dallas, a radio soap opera that aired in the 1930s, so much so that she named Amber’s mom after one of the characters. “The name is cute and sentimental, and I love the vintage twist it adds,” she explains.
Though the shop revolves mostly around vintage furniture, there are plenty of new modern pieces thrown into the mix. You can find Missoni’s latest throws, pillows designed in-house, handmade cards, and jewelry by local designer Katy Grey. “We like to think of stelladallas as a lifestyle,” Davidson says. stelladallas. 4346 Lovers Ln. 214-691-0000.
