Maybe you like the idea of modular flooring—it’s easy to clean and incredibly durable—but you’re not exactly going for the industrial look. Fear not. A new store can provide cool, colorful carpet designs that are less factory and more fabulous. FLOR prides itself on offering flooring that’s more like fashion, complete with smart design and yearly trends. “We consider ourselves the modern rug solution,” sales consultant Jessica Hasten says. Here’s how the process works: visit the Knox/Henderson store—it’s the first in Texas, thanks very much. Everyone is welcome (although special consideration is given to the trade). Chat about your wants and needs. Looking for something you can hose off in a mudroom? No problem. Fancy something luxurious for the bedroom? Check out the 100 percent British wool option. Once you’ve decided, use the in-store grid to map out your floor, or plug in the dimensions using their online tool. Better yet, have a representative come to your house with samples and a tape measure. From there, installation is a snap. Everything sticks together—not to the floor. What does that mean for you? You can easily wash tiles in the sink. You can also remove and replace colors whenever you get a wild hair. The best part? As part of FLOR’s “Mission Zero,” a return and recycle program, your tiles come with a pre-paid shipping label. When you tire of a tile, mail it back for recycling. “By 2020, we are hoping to not leave any sort of footprint whatsoever,” Hasten says.
