Love, Pinot Noir Style

Two former Neiman Marcus employees fell in love and made beautiful wine.

Many of us fall in love with shoes at Neiman Marcus. But once upon a time in the early ’90s, cupid struck the hearts of two Neiman’s at NorthPark employees. Adam Lee worked in the wine department, and Dianna Novy (now Dianna Novy Lee) worked in the epicurean shop. They began holding wine and food tastings at Neiman’s. Afterward, they’d hang around, drink wine, and talk of love of Pinot Noir. Eventually that love bore fruit, and last year, their dream-turned-reality venture, Siduri Wines, turned 15 years old. Adam and Dianna’s small winery in Sonoma is devoted to making stellar, single-source Pinot Noir from 20 vineyards in California and Oregon. They taste and control the picking of fruit they purchase. Siduri 2008 Pisoni Pinot Noir is the 12th from this vineyard. Filled with juicy blackberry and blueberry, this is a spicy, elegant Pinot Noir from California’s Santa Lucia Highlands. Siduri 2008 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir ($24.95 at Veritas Wine Room) is their first Oregon—and for Oregon Pinot Noir lovers, this is a notable wine. Earthy, spicy aromas with cherry flavors and a velvety texture prove this to be a representative Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

Available at Veritas Wine Room.
