songwriting campMy girlies took a songwriting camp at Oil and Cotton earlier this summer that they’re still talking about. It was just genius in every possible way. They can’t let it go. (You can hear the song they created here if you are so inclined.)

Well tonight from 6-8:30 p.m. they’ll be able to relive their music-making glory days with the Sound Materials workshop in the Oil and Cotton Project Room at The Dallas Museum of Art. The free event, billed as “songwriting camp on speed,” will feature Kayli House Cusick (hand-written music notation), David Karsten Daniels (laptop/smartphone recording), Martin Back (sound art instrument-building/automated gamelan), and Chaz Underriner (tape music: sound portraits & landscapes) leading guests through a hands-on demostration of how songs are written and albums are made.
