Thumb Awards Pretzel Logic: Bureaucrats Ban Blintzes

In late July, the Dallas City Council voted to allow street vendors in the central business district, just like you find in New York. But thanks to the City Health Department, the vendors won’t be just like the ones in New York. There will be no knishes, gyros, or hot pretzels on our streets. The Health Department intends to require street vendors to prepare their food under the same conditions enforced at Dallas’ restaurants. That rules out the sidewalk treats of larger Eastern cities.
