Poor planning this Valentine’s Day leads to unhappy loved ones, but never fear. There are plenty of ways to salvage this weekend. You could still, maybe, make a reservation at one of these Dallas restaurants, buy him/her a gift, or top it off with a little spontaneity. Whether it’s a cooking class through the Winter Chefs Cooking Class Series or taking your gal pal to the park, we’re sure it’ll be a good time.

FRIDAY

From 6:30 to 10 p.m., Klyde Warren Park is offering you a free ticket out of spending a fortune this Valentine’s Day. Tonight, the Mad Men Swing Band and complimentary sweet treats from Savor bring you the cheapest way to entertain your sweetheart. Champagne, wine, and beer will also be available to purchase. Oh, and we can’t forget about the food trucks. Nothing says love better than a food truck.

SATURDAY

Spend your Saturday pickling and preserving with Kathy Neumuller (JJ&B Jams)and Liza Staffelbach (24 Carrot Health) during the third class in the Urban Homesteading Series. This is your chance to learn about hot bath canning, fruit canning, and shelf-safe pickling. $30 per person

This Saturday, the Winter Chefs Cooking Class Series presents Mark Wootton of Garden Cafe. By only using local produce, he will teach you how to create “Heartwarming Dishes of Winter.” The admission cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

SUNDAY

Every Sunday, Ocean Prime offers a three-course prix fixe menu. The menu will include a choice of a house salad or lobster bisque; stuffed Maine Lobster or filet mignon; and carrot cake or warm butter cake. $39 per person

Hayley Votolato is a D Magazine intern, and aspiring food and travel editor. She will be graduating from Texas Christian University with a degree in Strategic Communication from the Schieffer College of Communication this May.
